Eternelle Route Napoléon
Legendary road, unmissable, jewel of our heritage, the Napoléon road is included in the Pantheon of the most beautiful roads in France thanks to its audacious route where history mixes with the incredible beauty of the landscapes. It connects Golfe Juan to Grenoble via Sisteron, Le Poët, Upaix, Ventavon and Monêtier Allemont before arriving at Gap, crossing the Champsaur to then arrive at Grenoble. His itinerary was built on the paths taken by the Emperor during his return from exile on the island of Elba to reconquer the throne of France. Today, it is tourism much more than history that takes over the Route Napoléon. From turn to turn, in the heart of magnificent landscapes that delight motorists, bikers and cyclists, you too can travel this famous road and this superb book, abundantly illustrated and documented!

INSTANTS NATURE
We really fell in love with the book and the superb photos by Olivier Tourillon! To offer or to treat yourself ;-) This Haut-Alpin autor invites us to travel the mountain with him. Every season, whatever the weather, he goes on the lookout for the spectacles that nature offers, with ever-changing subjects. These moments of happiness make him forget the long hours of waiting, even in the cold! His camera is never very far away because only photography is capable of highlighting certain details that are often inaccessible to simple glances. He happily shares his knowledge of the complex and enchanting world in which we are fortunate to live and which we must learn to protect. Isn't nature just as important as man? Could we live without her?

A la découverte de Serres
Nestled on the rocky hillside of Pignolette, the village of Serres and the braided river "Buëch" dominate the valley. Its inhabitants say that it is the little sister of Sisteron: only the citadel, that was destroyed by Richelieu in 1633, is missing. Serres at an altitude 660m, is located in the south of the Hautes-Alpes, at the junction of the road connecting Grenoble to Marseille, and Nyons to Briançon. This strategic position has for a very long time promoted the development of trade and exchanges.

On March 1, 1815, Napoleon landed at Golfe Juan. On March 3 in Gap, news of the landing was known and the arrival of the Emperor was announced for March 5. In the Hautes-Alpes prefecture, there are three witnesses to these events, Pierre-Antoine Farnaud the general secretary, François Merlet, the secretary of the prefect Harmand and Joseph Faure head of the general administration office. All three have written their memoirs and give us their perceptions of these days of March 1815. To their points of view are added the writings of Alexandre César Flour de Saint-Genis, mayor of Upaix, of Albert Montemont, administrator of Rights gathered in Gap, Guillaume Joseph Peyrusse, general treasurer of the Crown during the Hundred Days, Jean-Baptiste Germain Fabry lawyer and writer, Louis Olivier, grenadier. A Gapençais historian, Ernest Sibour, also provides his perspective through the testimonies he has collected. Some are royalists, others are Bonapartists but all relate in great detail what happened on March 5 and 6, 1815 in the Hautes-Alpes. But, they do not forget to mention the consequences of Napoleon's passage through Gap with the punitive operations carried out by the Marseille royalists on this city, operations which only had their outcome on April 7, 1815 during the Battle of Piles à La Saulce. Throughout these documents, the reader will be able to make their own analysis of this Hundred Days period.

Le Buëch autrefois
Published in 2000, this book by Louis Massot presents numerous old postcards and documents on the cantons of LARAGNE, RIBIERS, ORPIERRE and ROSANS (volume 1). At the beginning of the 20th century, they had 66 municipalities and 22,938 inhabitants representing 21% of the departmental population (109,510 inhabitants). In 2000 there were only 60 municipalities left (those of AGNIELLES, MONTEGLIN, BARRET-LE-HAUT, POMET and CHATILLON-LE-DESERT having disappeared, those of ETOILE and ST CYRICE having grouped together), with 18,172 inhabitants, or only 15% of the population of HAUTES ALPES (121,419 inhabitants). "The rural exodus has had serious consequences here, with some cantons having been more affected than others. Those responsible are not, however, determined to suffer fate and give up in order to react on natural conditions. I wanted, without any pretension, in this book illustrated with 300 photos or postcards, to allow the reader to go back a few hundred years in order to discover, through images, the experiences of our fellow citizens of the time. Thus he will perhaps be able to find the face of his father or great-grandmother, rediscover the lost profession, see his house or his neighborhood again, remember the exceptional event that did not fail to capture the photographer on paper, appreciate the evolution of the landscapes, places, etc.

Armand Barniaudy, l'homme et ses actions
Armand Barniaudy, the man and his actions. Jean Pierre PELLEGRIN. This book, rather than a biography, is the restitution of the comments and notes that Armand Barniaudy had entrusted to Jean-Pierre Pellegrin, investigating various subjects of local history. These contributions were supplemented by information and testimonies provided by other people who shared some of his actions. The decision of his children to publish these texts will help preserve the memory of the warm and altruistic man who was their father and make known the many commitments and achievements of his public life. A whole page of the local history of Hautes-Alpes and Lagrand opens up to the reader... IMPORTANT : his book is in french.
